Nancy Wicker
2nd Grade Teacher
Ms. Nancy S. Wicker was born at Ft. Sill, OK. and attended school in Utah, Alabama, Georgia, and Oklahoma. Following graduation from Lawton High School, Ms. Wicker attended and graduated from Cameron State Jr. College with an Associate Degree and Central State University in Edmond with a BS in Elementary Education. She was hired by Lawton Public Schools and served as a classroom teacher in grades 2-6 as well as Music and Physical Education for all students, grades 1-6 at several elementary schools for thirty-two years. She began at Dunbar Elementary and continued at Jackson, Swinney, Garfield, and Lincoln. During this time, Ms. Wicker continued her education at SWOSU at Weatherford earning a MA in Elementary Administration. Her state certification also includes Social Studies and Language Arts for grades 6-8.
Ms. Wicker also has several hobbies and community interests including quilt-making and hobby painting. She has two daughters and seven adult grandchildren who live in Kansas, Minnesota, and Indiana. Her father, C.C. Cuthbertson, a US Army veteran, served as a secondary teacher at Central Jr. High in Lawton. Her mother, Mildred Cuthbertson, was employed at Carnegie Library and the Lawton Public Library after rearing four children, two sons and two daughters. Ms. Wicker is looking forward to working with Lawton Academy’s employees, students, and parents.
