Kristen Kear

6th Grade Teacher

Kristin Kear is incredibly excited to join the full-time teaching staff at LAAS. After spending a very rewarding semester substitute teaching here, she knew this was a special community and a place where she wanted to continue growing as an educator.

Working with children has always been a passion of hers. After graduating from Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Services, she worked in a variety of youth-centered roles, including youth program coordinator, camp counselor, lifeguard, and swim instructor. No matter the position, supporting, encouraging, and helping young people succeed has always brought her great joy.

As a military spouse, Mrs. Kear spent many years volunteering throughout the Marine Corps community wherever help was needed. During that time, she had the opportunity to coach U6 soccer for three seasons.

When her youngest son started kindergarten in Hawaii, she felt called back to working with children. She began substitute teaching at Kainalu Elementary School in Kailua, Hawaiʻi. Over those three years, she discovered a true passion for education and quickly realized that the classroom was exactly where she was meant to be.

Mrs. Kear believes that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. She loves bringing creativity, energy, curiosity, and plenty of enthusiasm into the classroom each day. She especially enjoys helping students discover their strengths, build confidence, and overcome individual challenges.

When she’s not at school, she enjoys reading, building LEGO creations, caring for her plants, and spending time with her wonderful husband, Charlie, and their two sons, Cohen and Waylon who are truly her greatest joy.

Mrs. Kear is so excited for the year ahead and looks forward to partnering with you to help make this a meaningful, successful, and memorable year for your child!
